Sleeps two on an elegant barge with ensuite shower room, permanently moored on a private lake teeming with fish and wildlife. Beautifully, thoughtfully designed, with a state-of-the-art kitchen, the open-plan space is perfect for two. It features a dining table, a wood burner and a sink-in comfy sofa – ideal for putting your feet up while your partner conjures brunch. And then there’s the front deck; the swirling morning orchestra of birdsong is a must. Here, peace is plentiful. Meander in 20 acres of woodland, take a long, luxuriant bankside bath, get cosy by the fire or, with rod cast, simply put your feet up; however you go, go slow.

Blackbird is around a two and a half hour drive from Bristol, and five hours from London. Regular trains run to Exeter, which is roughly an hour’s drive from Blackbird.

Blackbird is adults only accommodation, so children are not allowed.
